Where We Find the Best Offshore Action
Artificial reefs, oil rigs, and natural ledges dot the waters off Dauphin Island, creating a network of prime fishing spots across the extensive reef systems the Alabama Gulf Coast has to offer. These structures attract everything from red snapper to tuna, and knowing where to go makes all the difference. We track seasonal patterns, water temperature, and recent activity to put you right where the fish are biting.
- Red Snapper: Sought after for their fight and flavor, these fish gather around reefs and structure.
- Yellowfin Tuna: Show up in deeper water during the warm months, known for speed and power.
- Blackfin Tuna: Smaller than yellowfin but just as aggressive, perfect for anglers who want action and great fillets.
- Amberjack: Hang close to wrecks and reefs, always ready to test your strength with a stubborn pull.
- King Mackerel: Hit hard and run fast, especially during their spring and fall migrations.
We don't guess. Each trip is planned around what's biting and where, so you spend your time fishing, not searching.
How We Put You on Red Snapper and Tuna
When red snapper season opens, the reefs come alive. These fish stay tight to the bottom, and getting them up takes patience and muscle. We drop baits deep, right into their zone, and when the rod bends, you'll feel the difference. Snapper fight to get back to cover, and every catch is earned.
Chasing tuna is a different story. With tuna, speed and stamina matter. We troll lures or chunk bait, watching for birds and surface action. When a tuna hits, the reel screams and the battle begins. Yellowfin can top 100 pounds, and even blackfin will keep you busy. We handle the setups, the bait, and the methods. You focus on the fight. Every species demands its own approach, and we adjust on the fly.

What We Recommend You Bring
Long days offshore call for smart packing. The sun is relentless, the water can get rough, and comfort matters when you're hours from shore.
- Sunscreen and a Hat: Sun exposure is constant offshore, so covering up keeps you comfortable all day.
- Polarized Sunglasses: Glare off the water is intense, and good lenses help you spot fish and structure.
- Food and Drinks: Bring enough to stay fueled and hydrated, especially on full-day trips.
- Seasickness Medication: Even seasoned anglers can feel the motion, so take precautions if you're prone to it.
- Cooler with Ice: Essential for keeping your catch fresh until you get back to the dock.
We supply all rods, reels, bait, and tackle. If you have a favorite rod, bring it along, but otherwise, just show up ready to fish.
Methods We Use Offshore
When the boat stops over a reef or ledge, bottom fishing for snapper begins. Weighted rigs drop bait fast, and you'll feel every bump and bite through the line. It's a test of focus and timing, especially with strong currents and deep water.
Trolling for tuna and other pelagic fish means covering ground. We set lures or live bait at different depths, adjusting speed until something strikes. For tuna, chunking is another go-to. We toss cut bait overboard, building a scent trail that draws fish close. When the school shows up, it's all hands on deck. The action can turn fast, and multiple hookups aren't rare.

How We Plan Your Offshore Trip
Offshore charters require more time and preparation than a quick run near the beach. Our half-day fishing trips usually last around six hours and primarily focus on abundant fish up to 30 to 40 miles out. A full-day trip gives an opportunity to fish longer and broaden the range if you choose. We leave early, making the most of daylight and calm conditions around Dauphin Island.
Weather is always a factor. If conditions look rough, we reschedule. No exceptions. Safety comes first, and we keep you updated as your trip approaches. Booking early is smart, especially during peak seasons like red snapper. The best dates fill up quickly, so planning ahead locks in your spot.
